With winter upon us, and 2015 just around the corner, I encourage you to take stock of your day-to-day. Although life can get so busy, it’s important to make sure that you’re carving out the time to do at least one thing everyday to get you closer to achieving YOUR dreams.
As a fashion publicist for the past ten years, my job has never been about me, it has always been about promoting someone else’s dream. My clients at Haute House PR range from fashion, jewelry, and accessory brands, and many of them are also online retailers, as well as brick-and-mortar retail stores. As their publicist, my job is to put their product or store in front of the media, as well as celebrities, influential bloggers, and tastemakers. Don’t get me wrong, I LOVE what I do. However, as a creative person, I also need an outlet of my own.
Although I’d been dreaming of starting a personal style blog for over two years, it was definitely a challenge for me to give myself permission to launch Haute House Flower, and finally, FINALLY do something for myself. Even though I’ve only been blogging for less than two months, my efforts have already started coming back to me ten-fold. The amount of networking, collaboration, and opportunities that have presented themselves in such a short period of time, have been such a wonderful, welcome surprise. I’ve already met so many amazing people through blogging, and it really feels as though this is the perfect path for me at this point in my career. Not only will I be a better publicist as a result, and get to interact with potential new clients, but I can further pursue my dreams of being an on-air trend expert, and a sought-after digital style influencer.
It’s such an exciting time that we’re living in, you can truly do whatever your heart desires. I have such a good feeling about 2015 and this upcoming year. For me, taking just one small step towards my goals each day (although it may seem insignificant at the time) gives me such a sense of daily fulfillment.
What’s your dream, or are you already living it? If so, what made you decide to go for it? Be sure to tell me in the comments below, I can’t wait to hear all of your inspirational stories! xo Jordan
