I shared details on our NYC civil ceremony over in my latest article on BridalGuide.com, but I wanted to dedicate a special article to our stunning wedding bands.
It’s funny, I never really gave much thought to wedding bands until a few months before our civil ceremony, as my focus had always been on the engagement ring. Since my engagement ring is so unique and different, I was initially stumped as to what kind of wedding band would look best. Enter Helzberg Diamonds, the trusted national jeweler with more than a century dedicated to love.
HOW TO CHOOSE YOUR WEDDING BANDS
Just 10 days before our civil ceremony, Scott and I went to one of Helzberg’s retail locations in New Jersey (they have over 200 across the country – and now you can actually get hitched for free at any Helzberg store, because they’ve ordained their associates!) The ease and quickness of our appointment was unlike anything I’ve ever experienced, and their best-in-class customer service made it easy for us to feel confident that we were getting the right rings for our unique relationship.
They had a huge selection of ring styles for us to choose from, including loose diamonds and innovative lab-grown options. We discussed everything from our lifestyle, to how the bands would lay when stacked under my engagement ring, to the look that we wanted to achieve. We were never pressured to choose anything, and with the help of our knowledgeable Helzberg expert, we ultimately decided on two bands for me (I mean…diamonds ARE my birthstone!). I chose one white gold band with graduated diamonds, and one band in gold with a floating diamond effect, to complement the warmer tones of my engagement ring. I wanted my bands to give an effortlessly elegant, collected feel, and I’m so happy with how they turned out!
Scott never wears jewelry except for a watch, so I was nervous about finding him a ring that he not only loved, but was comfortable for him. While he originally thought he wanted a classic gold band, we realized in-store how much better rose gold looked on his skin tone, and he fell in love with this simple, yet elegant comfort fit band in 14K rose gold. Our expert was integral in advising on the style, how it would age over time, and the width and size that would work best for Scott’s finger.
After our civil ceremony weekend, we decided that we should wait to wear the bands until after our Italy wedding in October. While I don’t want to go a day without wearing them, that is or true wedding anniversary date, and seeing the ring on Scott’s finger made it feel like we’d already had our wedding. I can’t wait to share my experience exchanging the rings again in front of our friends and family on our big day!
We’re so thankful to the incredible team at Helzberg Diamonds for helping us celebrate one of our life’s biggest and happiest moments. If you’re in the market for a ring, (or getting hitched!) I can’t recommend them more highly!
